What?  Are you kidding?  Why would they want me to switch?
Ok, ok, I know this sounds strange but after you read this quick post you will fully understand.

Here’s the facts… energy is delivered to your home (or office) by your local utility.  That is what they do.  Your electric bill will show the fee for this service.  The energy being delivered needs to first be purchased somewhere, and this will also show on your bill.  This is called the generation portion of your bill (GSC=Generation Service Charge).  Your local utility is not allowed to make a profit from the generation of energy - they can only profit from the delivery.  As a result, they want you to switch suppliers.  Your local utility will still be delivering your energy, so they are happy (and you still call them for service, so you are happy).  When you purchase your energy somewhere else, you remove the burden from your local utility.  I call it a burden because energy is purchased in advance and that’s a huge outlay of money… and because your local utility is not allowed to profit on this, they would rather not make the purchase at all.

Still not convinced?  Here is a link to a website put together by the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control in conjunction with the Energy Conservation Management Board and the Institute for Sustainable Energy.  The same applies to all other deregulated states (I will post more links as I find them).

Viridian Energy, who I am clearly a fan of, provides greener energy and simple switching.  Whoever you choose to be your energy provider (and please, do make a choice or your state will make the choice for you), consider the percentage of green vs. brown energy, as well as prices and simple billing.  With Viridian, nothing changes regarding billing.  You still get the same bill from your local utility.  This is not true will all energy suppliers.  If you have any questions, feel free to post them as a comment.  To make the switch or to call me, click here.

I am hoping it is real. That is why today, I am going to sign up and first become a customer, and then become an associate. Why I can’t I make more money?? This wonderful state does nothing but raise my taxes each and every year. If I can save a little bit that would be great. If I can make a few extra dollars that also would be great. The writing is on the wall, for me anyway. I want to leave the state and the cold winters behind. This will allow me to have a residual income to allow me to live in the sunshine and still have money coming in. Think about it. Research it. This is really a no brainer.

Scott I like this site you have here, I thank you for all your info, I am only like 25 years old and I use a lot of energy with all my games and ac running in my apartment its about time we get something off, but my question to you is how many companies are there like yours? where can I shop for the best price and what does this really give me?

as a customer I want to know if I am getting the best for my money? what happens when your company raises it prices? will it be ATT and Worldcom all over again companies paying people to switch back?

    Just food for thought,
